Team Iran's Shooting Para Sport at Paris 2024


Iran’s Shooting Para Sport Team secured four Paralympic quota places for Paris 2024, including three slots for pistol events and a slot for rifle events.

The squad also celebrates its eighth Paralympic appearance at the Paris 2024 Games.

Up to 160 Para Shooters will compete across 13 rifle and pistol medal events from distances of 10m, 25m and 50m at National Shooting Center in Châteauroux between 30 August and 5 September 2024 in Paris, France.

The Venue

The In July 2022, the Paris 2024 Board of Directors approved plans to make the Chateauroux Shooting Centre a competition venue for the Paris 2024 Games. The centre will be used for 15 Olympic shooting events and 13 Paralympic shooting events in 2024.

The Chateauroux Shooting Centre will continue to be used for international shooting events after the Games.

From 27 July to 5 August, an early morning train from Paris Austerlitz will take you to Châteauroux and arrive at the competition venue on time. The train leaves at 5.18 am from Monday to Friday and 5.37 am at weekends. Free shuttle buses, connected to the train, will take you from Châteauroux station to the competition site, allowing you to enjoy the shooting sessions with peace of mind.

 Brief History of Iran Shooting Para Sport at Paralympics

National Shooting Para Sport team boasts a combined seven Paralympics appearance and owns seven medals, including 5 Golds and 2 Bronzes.
The team made its debut at Summer Paralympic Games since 1996 and that run continued at Tokyo 2020.

 

Atlanta 1996

Iran Shooting Para Sport team made its Paralympic debut at Atlanta 1996.

*Iran sent five Para athletes to the Games.

*Enayatollah Bokharaei was the Team Iran’s first Paralympics gold medalist in R3- Mixed Air Rifle Prone SH1 Final event of Para Shooting at Atlanta 1996.

 

Sydney 2000

At the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, Team Iran’s Para Shooting featured six athletes, under the lead of Yousef Ajorlou.

* The squad won a gold and a bronze.

* Enayatollah Bokharaei claimed his second Paralympic title at Sydney 2000 Games.

* Nayereh Akef made her Paralympic debut for Team Iran Women’s Shooting at Sydney 2000, by winning a bronze medal in P2 final event.

 

Athens 2004/ Beijing 2008

Iranian Shooting Para Sport's representatives failed to achieve medal at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

 

London 2012

Team Iran’s Para Shooting competed at London 2012 Paralympic Games with seven athletes, under the lead of coach Roghayeh Allahkarami.

*In P2 final event of London 2012, Iranian Sareh Javanmardi reached a bronze medal at her first Paralympics.

 

Rio 2016

A total of five athletes represented Team Iran at Rio 2016 Paralympic Games with two gold medals, under the lead of Head Coach Hossein Amiri.
*Rio 2016 marked a historic moment for Iran when Sareh Javanmardi became the first female athlete from the country to earn gold at Shooting Para Sport either of either the Paralympic or Olympic Games.
*Javanmardi completely dominated in both her events at Rio 2016, winning her first titles in P4 and P2 with two finals Paralympic records.

 

Tokyo 2020

At Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Iran Para Shooting team was highlighted by three females Para Shooters, under the lead of Head Coach Hossein Amiri.
*Sareh Javanmardi topped the podium of P2 final event and achieved her third individual Paralympic gold medal in a row in Tokyo.
