Team Iran's Sitting Volleyball at Paris 2024


Team Iran Men’s Sitting Volleyball team booked Paris 2024 ticket by its triumph at the 2022 WPV World Championship, where they achieved their eighth world title.

The squad also celebrates its tenth Paralympic appearance at the Paris 2024 Games.

Volleyball at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France will take place between 29 August and 7 September 2024.
The competitions will feature eight teams in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. The eight participating teams were drawn into two pools of four each for the preliminary phase of the competition.
Men’s Pool A consists of France, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan.

Men’s Pool B also includes Iran, Brazil, Germany and Ukraine.

The Venue

The sitting volleyball events will be held at the North Paris Arena, located in the Villepinte Exhibition Centre in Seine-Saint-Denis. This venue will also host the preliminary rounds of the boxing events and fencing ranking round of the modern pentathlon event during the Olympic Games.
The North Paris Arena will be taken down after the Games. The Villepinte Exhibition Centre’s nine halls will continue to host fairs open to members of the public and professionals all year round.

 Brief history of Iran Men's Sitting Volleyball at Paralympics

Iran men’s sitting volleyball players made their Paralympic debut since 1988.

Ranked atop over the past four decades as the most decorated team in sitting volleyball, Iran’s men remained unrivaled during their nine Paralympic appearances with seven golds and two silvers.

 

Seoul 1988

In the Seoul 1988 Paralympic Games, with the participation of 10 teams, the Iranian men’s sitting volleyball team was crowned for the first time and was standing atop the podium by grabbing the gold medal to stamp their world-class status in the Paralympic scene.

 

Barcelona 1992

Iran’s men in their second Paralympic appearance defend their title at Barcelona 1992.

Sitting Volleyball player Ali Kashfia carried national flag at the opening ceremony of Barcelona 1992.

 

Atlanta 1996

At Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games, Team Iran’s sitting volleyball won its third Paralympic gold, under the lead of Head Coach Jaber Khalafzadeh.

For the second time, sitting volleyball player Ali Kashfia carried national flag at the athletes’ parade in the opening ceremony of Atlanta 1996.

 

Sydney 2000

Paralympic Games, Team Iran’s sitting volleyball won its fourth Paralympic gold medal in a row, under the lead of Head Coach Hadi Rezaei.


Athens 2004

Iran’s men finished in runner up at 2004 Athens Paralympic Games.


Beijing 2008

Paralympic Games, Team Iran’s sitting volleyball won its fifth Paralympic gold medal, under the lead of Head Coach Hadi Rezaei.


London 2012

Iran’s sitting volleyball players stood the second place at London 2012 Paralympics.


Rio 2016

Iran sent two sitting volleyball teams, including men and women, to the Paralympics in Rio 2016.

Men’s squad won its six Paralympic gold, while Women ranked fifth in their first Paralympic appearance.


Tokyo 2020

At Tokyo Paralympic Games, Iran’s men claimed their seventh gold, under the lead of Head Coach Hadi Rezaei.
