Iran’s sitting volleyball head coach Hadi Rezaei says that the 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental will be a good opportunity to find new talented players ahead of the 2016 Paralympic Games.
The 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental will be held in Hangzhou City, China from 17-23 March 2016.
Iran’s men and women teams will partake in the prestigious event.
“World ParaVolley is a very important competition for us since we consider that as a preparatory tournament ahead of Paralympics. It’s the last chance to classify our players as well,” Rezaei told Paralympic.ir.
“Most of our players will participate in the World ParaVolley Intercontinental for the first time. The event also is a good opportunity to find talented players. We will participate in the competition with different arrangement and just four players in each team are experienced,” he said.
The event will be the final opportunity for one men’s and one women’s team to qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. It is also a chance for the already qualified teams to gain some last-minute match experience leading up to the Games.
The last Intercontinental was held in Egypt, had 19 teams participating.
Next year, that number is expected to rise.
