Four-time Paralympics gold medalist Mohammad Reza Mirzaei said that the Iranian athletes could win up to 10 gold medals from this year’s Games in Brazil.
Retired javelin thrower Mirzaei won four gold medals in the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing.
“In my opinion, the Iranian athletes have improved during the past years. Our paralympians can get better results than able-bodied athletes in the events,” Mirzaei told Paralympic.ir.
“I predict the Iranian representatives could win up to 10 gold medals at Rio 2016. I also think we could win about 30 silver and bronze medals in the event,” he added.
“Iran has chance to win gold in athletics, powerlifting, archery, shooting and sitting volleyball events,” Mirzaei concluded.
Mohammad Reza Mirzaei is a member of Janbazan Fars wheelchair basketball team at the moment.
