The Iranian men’s and women’s sitting volleyball teams are preparing to partake at the 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental which will take place in Hangzhou City, China from 17-23 March.
The prestigious event will bring 17 men and 15 women teams together.
Algeria, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, South Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and USA will participate in the men’s section.
Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Netherlands, Russia, Rwanda, Slovenia, Ukraine and USA are women participating teams.
“The competition is a good opportunity for us to test our players before participating in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games,” deputy head of Iranian Women Sitting Volleyball Association Leila Tavakkoli told Paralympic.ir.
“A total of best teams will take part at the World ParaVolley Intercontinental. It will be a good opportunity for us to see where we are. It can be considered as some good warm-up matches for our team ahead of Paralympics,” she added.
The event will be the final chance for one men’s and one women’s team to qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
