Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mahmoud Goudarzi attended Iranian women’s sitting volleyball’s training on Sunday.

Goudarzi met the Iranian athletes ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Iran's Sports Federation for the Disabled (IRISFD) headquarters in Tehran.

Debutant Iran’s women’s sitting volleyball team has been pooled with powerhouses China, USA and Rwanda.

Pool A consists of Brazil, Ukraine, Russia, and Canada.

“First, I have to say I am very happy to be here among you. We hope you have a successful performance in Rio.  I know you have a difficult task in the tournament but if you do your best and still don't win, at least you can be satisfied that you've tried,” Goudarzi said.

The 2016 Paralympics will kick off on September 7 with the opening ceremony at Maracana Stadium and will last until September 18.

Iran will send 111 athletes to the games.
