Nominees include: Siamand Rahman, powerlifter from Iran, Austrian wheelchair tennis player Dylan Alcott, Belgian table tennis player Laurens Devos, Swiss athlete Marcel Hug, Belarusian swimmer Ihar Boki and Colombian swimmer Carlos Serrano.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for the Best Male Athlete of September based on performances at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and the public can now vote for the winner on www.Paralympic.org.
In lieu of the IPC Athlete of the Month award for September, the honor is being separated into three different categories – Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete and Best Team – based on results at Rio 2016.
A one-week voting period will be dedicated to each category on the IPC’s website, beginning with Best Male Athlete.
Rahman lifted a whopping world record of 310kg at the Paralympic Games Rio 2016, en route to the gold medal and confirming his status as the world’s strongest Paralympian.
