The Iranian para athletes claimed 12 gold medals, five silver and five bronze in the competition.

“We are satisfied with our athletes in the competition. We can choose some the athletes for the upcoming 2017 Asian Youth Para Games in the UAE,” Iran’s coach Bahman Rezaei told Paralympic.ir.

Team USA claimed the title with 18 gold, eight silver and 10 bronze medals.

Great Britain came third, winning 11 gold, four silver and five bronze medals.

The first World Para Athletics Junior Championships gut underway on Thursday (3 August), with 275 athletes and 11 guide runners from 41 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs).

The Championships were held for two age groups - youth athletes aged between 14 and 17 years and junior athletes aged between 18 and 19 years.
