Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Zahra Nemati will vie for the World Archery’s 2017 Athlete of the Year award with four other archers.
Zahra Nemati, Stretton Jessica (GB), Gogel Jane Karla (Brazil), Tatiana Andrievskaia (Russia) and Jiamin Zhou (China) have been nominated for the prestigious award.
Nemati claimed a gold medal at the 2017 World Archery Para Championships held in Beijing, China in September after beating Merve Nur Eroglu of Turkey, 6-2, in the final and finishing with a perfect 10-10-10.
Public voting for six Athlete of the Year awards is open until 7 February 2018, worldarchery.org reported.
Voting for World Archery’s 2017 Athlete of the Year award winners was officially opened to the public on 24 January 2018 across six categories: recurve men, recurve women, compound men, compound women, para men and para women.
Nominees include the four new World Archery Champions, plus World Archery Para Champions and world number ones.
Voting is open until midnight central European time on Wednesday 7 February 2018.
The winners will be announced during the Indoor Archery World Cup Final, held after the second day of The Vegas Shoot, on Saturday 10 February 2018.
