I.R. Iran Paralympic Delegation came 13 in the final medal count of Tokyo 2020 with historic 12 gold, 11 silver and a bronze
The curtains finally went up on August 24th and a year-long postponed Paralympic Games kicked off in Tokyo, as the only city ever to host Paralympic Games twice. In the world's third biggest sporting event 4,403 athletes from nearly 160 nations competed against each other across 22 sports in 539 medals events with Para taekwondo and Para badminton making their first appearance at the Games.
At the 16th Paralympic Games, Team Iran fielded a 62-strong squad including two-time Paralympics Zahra Nemati and Sareh Javanmardi.
Iranian Paralympians came 13th in the final medal array with historic 12 gold, 11 silver and one bronze and delivered the best performance across all Paralympic Games.
