TEHRAN – Hamed Solhipour of Iran won a gold medal in the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in the men’s up to 97kg on Saturday.
He won the gold with a lift of 225kg.
Silver medal went to Egyptian powerlifter Hany Abdelhady with 223kg.
Jordan’s Mutaz Aljuneidi won the bronze with 220kg.
Amir Jafari and Rouhollah Rostami in 65kg and 80kg had claimed two silver medals in the competition.
The tournament is one of the compulsory tournaments to qualify for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France.
The competition will run until December 5 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
