Iran NPC, Tehran:
NPC I.R. Iran celebrates the 15th National Paralympic Day & Week, as encouraging messages from High-ranking officials of UN, IPC and APC remain one of the key pillars supporting the delivery of this ceremony in Iran.
NPC IRI is due to conduct the National Paralympic Day ceremony on 16 October 2022 to promote the Paralympic Movement. Over 60,000 participants with varying impairments, representing 31 provinces are expected to celebrate this event across the country.
This year’s festival will differ from previous events [in Tehran] as it is welcoming the Asian Paralympic Committee President Majid Rashed accompanied by APC CEO Tarek Souei.
The supportive attendances and messages of high-ranked officials during NPD’s past editions
Though this ceremony has seen other high-ranked officials during past editions, including Mr. Wilfried Lemke, United Nations Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace who traveled to Iran for participating at the 8th edition of this event and addressing the ceremony by his message in 2015.
He stressed that Sport is a powerful symbol which eliminates barriers and provides opportunities. Lemke addressed the attendees, emphasizing equality for all in sport and gave a special thanks to parents and their care for children with impairment.
The annual event in Iran has been also marked several times with encouraging messages by former and current International Paralympic Committee Presidents, Sir Philip Craven and Andrew Parsons which show commitment of IPC to develop Para sports and social inclusion of people with disabilities through sport.
