Iran
Sports Federation for the Disabled (IRISFD) will be hosting the fourth round of
Wheelchair Basketball National Team Training Camp at the 22 Bahman Sport
Complex from November 19-27, 2022.
The athletes
will participate in an 8-day camp under the supervision of head coach
Mohammadreza Dastyar and coach Abbas Khaki in Tehran.
The
players from across the country will be training for the opportunity to
represent their best and commence their journey through the selection process
for attending in the 2022 IWBF World Championships.
The 19
athletes participating are:
Hakim
Mansouri, Vahid Sa’adatpour, Saeid Heidari, Abdol Jalil Gharanjik, Erfan
Bakhshandeh, Hasan Abdi, Omid Hashem Abadi, Ali Karimi, Alireza Kamalifar, Omid
Hadi Azhar, Hasanali Kab Amir, Amir Hossein Islamian, Faleh Ayyashi, Ali
Shokouhi, Ali Tavousian, Mansour Ahmadi, Ismaeil Fazeli, Hamidreza Heidari and
Mohammad Mohammadnezhad.
The
Senior Men’s National Team is the defending Asian champion and has ranked fourth
at the previous Championships in 2018.
IWBF
Wheelchair Basketball World Championships
The 2022
IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships originally scheduled for 16 – 27
November 2022 have been postponed until 9 – 20 June 2023.
According
to IWBF announcement 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will compete for the
title of World Champions and the hosts United Arab Emirates will welcome over
300 international wheelchair basketball players to compete over twelve days. The
event is held every four years with the previous Championships in 2018 taking
place in Hamburg, Germany.
