With 39 Votes in favour, Dr. Ghafoor Karegari was elected as the new President of Iran National Paralympic Committee (NPC) on Tuesday 13th December 2022.

With 39 Votes in favour, Dr. Ghafoor Karegari
won the race easily beating Dr. Jalil Kouhpayehzadeh by 10 votes as the new
President of Iran National Paralympic Committee (NPC) on Tuesday 13th
December 2022.
Asbaghian, Pouladgar and Mazloumi withdrew from the election
in favor of Karegari.
"First, I would like to thank everyone for their support. This is a great responsibility ahead of me since I replaced a great man in the position. Khosravi Vafa is a role model in Iran’s sports in the past century," Karegari said.
"We will keep moving forward because I have been here for many years as vice president and advisor and I am well acquainted with the Committee’s capacity," he added.
Dr. Karegari took charge of the role until 2026. He has also served as the First Vice-President
of Iran Sports Federation for the disabled and IRI NPC for the decades.
The two deputies of Iran’s sports minister Maryam Kazemipour and Mohammad Pouladgar were elected as Karegari’s vice-presidents.
Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa has been elected as the new President
of the Iran National Olympic Committee (NOC) in late August. He had also served as the President of the Iran Sports
Federation for the Disabled from 1981 to 2017.
