To run a series of analytical meetings for the Asian Para Games preparation, the second phase of the sessions were held by the attendance of Iran National Paralympic Committee officials along with the officials of National Para Sports Federations at the NPC headquarters.
The second series of the specialized meetings of candidates federations to be sent to the 4th Asian Para Games, were held with the attendance of the NPC's President, CEO and the other officials, along with the officials of Sports Federation for the Disabled, Sports Federation for the Blind, Para Taekwondo, Para Tables Tennis and Para Archery.
A qualified delegation
At the beginning of the meeting, NPC President Dr. Ghafoor Karegari emphasized on sending a qualified delegation to the Games and supporting the medal-winning disciplines.
He stated that the purpose of holding such meetings is to get to know more about the concerns of the federations' officials, to give them the opportunity for expressing their needs and to reach a mutual understanding for problem solving issues before the games start.
Preparation process
During these coordination sessions, the officials discussed the process of athletes and teams’ preparation, technical aspects of the exercises and the estimated chance of medal winning of different para sports such as wheelchair basketball, para swimming, para archery, para taekwondo, blind and visually impaired judo, goalball and para table tennis.
Concluding the phase of the meetings, Iran NPC officials asserted that It is important to send the qualified teams to this event and they won't not give up any efforts in this regard.
The 9-month countdown
These sessions have been coincided with the 9-month countdown to the 4th Asian Para Games, which will take place from October 22-28, 2023 with 22 sports, 61 disciplines and 564 games. It is estimated that about 3,800 athletes from 44 countries will take part in the event.
At the 2018 edition of the Games that was
held in Jakarta, Indonesia, Iran ranked third in the medal table with 51 gold,
43 silver and 42 bronze.
A total of 210 athletes, consisting
of 137 men and 73 women, competed for Iran at the 2018 Asian Para Games in 13
sports.
