Iran’s 2023 men's/women's open para skiing open national championships will kick off in Tochal Resorts of Tehran on 5 February.
Motivated by the
participation in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games, the National Ski Federation, together with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Iran are
to continue the path of winter para sports’ development in the country.
From Sunday (5 February), Iran will host three men's/women's winter para sports events at the Tochal Resorts near Tehran featuring around 21 skiers. These mark the first national para winter events at the 2023. Iran’s 2023 men's/women's open para skiing open national championships is approved by International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).
Athletes' Classification will be conducted by the professional pannel appointed and the classes will be checked on February 4th, prior to the competitions. Team’s official trainings also are to hold between 3 and 4 February.
The first upcoming event -a Para
Alpine Skiing- is due to take place, from 5-7 February, followed
by two other National events; 2023 Para Snowboard from 5-8 February
and 2023 Para Nordic from 5-6 February. These events feature races by attendance of eight para-alpine skiers, eight para-snowboarders, and five para-nordic skiers.
Iran started to support athletes'
activities in winter sports through participation in Nagano 1998, and it has been continued
by attending in Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, 2018
PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Games.
Tochal is a mountain and ski resort
located on the Alborz Mountain range, adjacent to the metropolitan area of
Tehran in northern Iran.
