The 2023 Special Olympics World Games have officially started.
Team Iran Makes its way into the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games at the Olympiastadion on 17 June 2023, in Berlin, Germany.
Iran NPC, Tehran– Under the motto of "Unbeatable Together", 16th Special
Olympics Summer World Games have been officially started in Berlin, Germany on
18 June 2023.
Representing Team Iran, 24 athletes
with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) in the Parade of Athletes at Berlin Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremony of the Games (June 17th).
Iranian ID delegation comprising 24 athletes, 12 coaches and staff has been participated the XVI Special Olympic
World Games to compete in 9 sports, including futsal, cycling, badminton, table
tennis, athletics, skate, bowling, boccia and swimming.
From 17 to 25 June 2023, the Special
Olympics World Games is taking place in Berlin, and thus, for the first time in
Germany. A total of 7,000 athletes from 190 countries have been participated in the
Special Olympics World Games to compete in 26 sports in Berlin, billed as the
world's largest inclusive sports event. The athletes will be supported by
more than 3,000 coaches and 20,000 volunteers.
The previous edition of Games was
held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from March 14-21, 2019.
Around 50,000 spectators gathered in
the stands to witness the extraordinary Opening Ceremony of the World Games
Berlin 2023, loudly cheering on thousands of athletes from around the globe.
