Iran NPC held the 12th Hangzhou Asian Para Games (APG) coordination meeting.
Iran NPC, Tehran- The twelfth Iranian Coordination Meeting of Hangzhou Asian Para Games with presidents and
representatives of National Sports Federations (NSF) to be sent to APG
took place at the headquarters of Iran National Paralympic Committee (NPC).
President Ghafoor Karegary chaired the meeting along with his colleague including the CEO, Women's Vic-President and Sport Deputy of NPC, in the presence of the officials from NSF’s namely IRISFD, IRISFB, Table Tennis, Archery, Taekwondo, Canoeing, Cycling and also the Head of National Paralympic Academy's (NPA).
NPC CEO Dr. Kamal Javanmard as Iranian delegation's Chef de Mission in
Hangzhou APG recalled the last session's debate at the opening of the coord. meeting, and in connection with the discussions, NPC Deputy
for Sports Dr. Saeid Solgi presented a monitoring report on preparations
condition of participating individuals and teams in the Fourth Asian Para
Games.
Following the presentations, NPA Head Dr. Jalil Kouhpayehzadeh briefed a report on
the NPA activities for the para athletes and team to be sent to Hangzhou.
NPC President considering the cultural issues, asked all officials of the above NSFs to
follow the preparation process according to the specialized programs for better
display and smoother representation in Hangzhou APG.
Based on the decision, I. R. Iran
delegation will compete at the Fourth Asian Para Games in 16 males’ and 11 females’
disciplines, as below:
Iran's men will compete across 16 sports, including archery, athletics, blind football, boccia, canoeing, chess, cycling, goalball, judo, powerlifting, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and wheelchair basketball.
Women will also represent Iran at different
events of 11 sport disciplines, including archery, athletics, boccia, canoeing, chess, goalball, powerlifting, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and wheelchair basketball.
Concluding the meeting, the NPC President presented the appointment letters of the deputies
of the Iranian delegation at Hangzhou APG to use their expertise.
Dr. Mozhgan Nasirizahed, the executive
board member of NPC and the perpetual director of the Games, Mr. Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh
were appointed as the Deputies of Islamic Republic of Iran's delegation at the Fourth Asian Para Games.
At the 2018 Asian Para Games, Iran finished third in
the medal table, claiming 51 golds, 42 silvers and 43 bronzes; the country's best performance in an Asian Para Games, in Jakarta, where 209 Iranian para athletes (136 men and 73 women) competed in 13 sport disciplines.
