Jafari and Seifi took silver and bronze of men’s up to 65kg in Dubai 2023 on Saturday (26 Aug).
Iran NPC, Tehran: On the day four of the 2023 World Championships, Iran's Para
Powerlifters added one silver and one bronze to the country’s medal tally on
Saturday August 26th.
In the men's up to 65kg, Iranian Amir
Jafari won the silver medal with lift of 197kg and 202kg in his first and second
attempts. Jafari failed at his third try of
lifting 214kg, and totally, finished in eighth place (399kg).
Yi Zou from China with a lift of 215kg won the title and Thomas
Kure from Nigeria, with 200kg, picked up a bronze.
While in the same category, the other
Iran’s representative Ali Seifi succeeded in all of his three attempts (177,
183 and 184) without any issues and with a total lift of 544kg stood second.
Earlier at the events Iranian Para Powerlifters had also achieved
two golds (Aliakbar Gharibshahi, Ahmad Aminzadeh) and one silver (Mahdi Sayadi) and
one bronze (Saman Razi) medals. Iran has totally bagged 6 medals.
Iran’s Seyed Hamed Solhipour goes on stage tonight (Sunday,
27 Aug) in Men's up to 97 kg at 20:20.
The 2023 Para
Powerlifting World Championships -which is taking place in Dubai from 22 to 30
August- is a compulsory tournament to qualify for the 2024 Summer Paralympics
in Paris.
