Iran NPC, Tehran: Iran’s Chef de Mission at Hangzhou APG Dr. Kamal Javanmard - emphasized on the receiving updates from National Cooperating Federations (NCFs).

With the countdown to the upcoming Asian Para Games (APG) having begun, NPC CEO Kamal Javanmard, who will be Team Iran’s Chef de Mission at the event, in his interview with the Public Relations said: “In road to Hangzhou APG, the National Paralympic Committee of Iran has strongly supported the National Cooperating Federations consisting of IRISFD, IRISFB, Archery, Cycling, ICF, Taekwondo and Table Tennis from two years ago. All of our national training camps have been staged by the NCFs and NPC’s partnership to prepare a total of 212 para athletes for the Games regularly and we have constantly received updates from our experts.”

“Team Iran will attend the Fourth APG with 128 men competing at the 16 sporting events and 84 women vying in 11 events,” Iran’s Chef de Mission in Hangzhou APG added.

“According to NPC policy, developing Women’s sports have been our first priority for AP Games. In terms of Para athletes’ numbers, Iran’s Hangzhou delegation will feature a record of 84 women, an increase on the 72 that took part at Jakarta 2018. Iranian women will make their debut in Para Powerlifting (4 athletes), Para Taekwondo (6) and Para Canoe (3) events at the APG,” he stated.

Dr. Javanmard concluded: “Although there have been some challenges from Jakarta to Hangzhou, including elite para-athletes’ retirement from sports, the medalists’ unexpected death and changes in the classification of some sports disciplines, Team Iran will however try their best to represent the country at the Fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou from October 22 to 28, 2023.

Triple Paralympic shooting gold medallist Sareh Javanmardi has been chosen to carry Iran’s flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

Iran won third place in 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia. Iranian athletes claimed 51 gold, 42 silver, and 43 bronze.
