On the occasion of the National Paralympic Day, NPC President addressed the Para Athletes in a congratulatory message.
Iran NPC, Tehran: In a message on the occasion of the 16th Edition
of Iran National Paralympic Day being observed on October 16, the President of
National Paralympic Committee highlights the importance of the Day.
In his statement, NPC President Dr.
Ghafoor Karegary said:
“I am honored to offer my most sincere congratulations on the occasion of National Paralympic Day. Once again, it provides an opportunity
for the Para athletes and their supporters to be reunited together on same
stage to change public perception towards people with disabilities life and showcase
the Paralympic Movement’s Values.
Iranian Para athletes’ achievements,
including their Paralympic and World record, have marked their commitments, empowerment
and determination for the decades, and it ensures the Team Iran’s brilliant performance
at Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
I hope National Paralympic Day will encourage more people with impairments and families towards Para
sports and convey the message of Paralympic movement across the country.”
National Paralympic Day plays an important role in
discovering the new talents and has become part of the national calendar in
2016 following a Presidential order.
The annual event in Iran has been marked several times with
encouraging messages by former and current International Paralympic Committee
Presidents, Sir Philip Craven and Andrew Parsons which show commitment of IPC
to develop Para sports and social inclusion of people with disabilities through
sport.
