According to the announcement of Dr. Kamal Javanmard, Iran’s first batch of delegation members leave Tehran for Shanghai, tonight for participating in Hangzhou APG.
Iran NPC, Tehran: “A total of 210 athletes will represent the country at the upcoming Asian Para
Games, from October 22 to 28, 2023,” Team Iran Chef de Mission (CDM) Dr. Kamal
Javanmard stated.
He added: “128 Iranian men will be competing at the 16 sporting events and 82 Para athletes will also vying in 11 women's and mixed events at the Fourth Edition of Asian Para Games in China.”
According to the announcement, Iran’s
first batch of delegation members leave Tehran for Shanghai, tonight on October
16th to head into Hangzhou and start their fourth APG journey.
Team Iran's Debutants at the Fourth
Asian Para Games
A total of four Para Powerlifters will
make their debut in women’s event of an Asian Para Games.
Para-taekwondo and Para-canoe have
been included at Hangzhou APG for the first time and Iran’s representatives are
to perform at the events as the debutants.
Team Iran’s
youngest and oldest Para athletes
Fatemeh Bayat, from Bushehr province
of Iran, is the youngest Para athlete to compete in Hangzhou PI Chess events,
taking part in Asian Para Games for the first time at 13 years, 262 days old.
While Asadollah Azimi, aged 64, is
the oldest member of Team Iran who will be competed in Para Athletics event, in
Hangzhou.
Triple Paralympic shooting gold medallist Sareh Javanmardi
has been chosen to carry Iran’s flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Para
Games in Hangzhou.
Iran won third place in 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia.
Iranian athletes claimed 51 gold, 42 silver, and 43 bronze.
