The Iconic Posters, created by Parisian illustrator Ugo Gattoni, were unveiled on 4 March 2024 at Musee d’Orsay.
The Paris 2024 Organising Committee
has unveiled two iconic posters that will be used to symbolise and promote this
year’s Paralympic and Olympic Games. The posters, which offer a visual
interpretation of the Games, are on public display at the Musee d’Orsay from 5
to 10 March.
The posters were created by
illustrator Ugo Gattoni and feature major symbols of the Paris 2024 Paralympic
and Olympic Games, along with iconic landmarks in the French capital. The
Paralympic and Olympic posters complement each other when placed side by side.
A closer look
The two posters take people on a
stroll through a “fantasy world of sport”. Historical monuments, including the
Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, are illustrated in vibrant colours, as
are Paralympic and Olympic venues, such as the Stade de France and the
Invalides.
The Paris 2024 Iconic Posters were
created with a diptych design, bringing together the two Games. The Paralympic
Poster and Olympic Poster were designed together: each one can work
independently, while combining to form a united image that tells the overall
story of Paris 2024.
Together, the two posters highlight
and celebrate the shared ambition of Paris 2024 for the Paralympic Games and
the Olympic Games.
A total of 47 sports (18 Paralympic
and 29 Olympic sports) are represented in the two posters. Eight Phryges, the
Paris 2024 mascots, are also present.
The Paralympic Poster includes an
illustration of the three Agitos, the Paralympic symbol, and a reference to
Stoke Mandeville in Great Britain, the birthplace of Paralympic sport.
Two posters, one story
In order to create the posters, Paris
2024 worked with Gattoni, a French illustrator known for his unique style. He
spent more than 2,000 hours over six months.
“His highly colourful world captures
all the richness and diversity of our project,” Paris 2024 President Tony
Estanguet said.
“A veritable fresco showcasing sport
in the city, these posters are also an ode to our motto: ‘Games wide open.’
They tell the story of our Games, a story that is at once festive, moving and
universal, and that speaks to each and every one of us.
The posters are available for
purchase at the Musee d’Orsay and on the Paris 2024 shop website.
