Iran NPC, Tehran: With one
year to go until the start of Tashkent 2025 Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG), National Paralympic
Committee of Iran held its first domestic Coordination Commission meeting today
on April 7, 2024.
During the meeting, the Commission
outlined the priorities in preparation for sending Team Iran to the Tashkent
2025 AYPG and subsequently discussed several topics, which include holding
National Championships and Pre-Games’ training camps.
Tashkent 2025 Asian Youth Para Games
that is set to take place between September and October 2025. It will be the
fifth edition of the AYPG and is expected to witness around 1000 athletes from
a record 45 nations (earlier has been 43) taking part in 13 Para sports (that
included 10 Paralympic sport).
This will be the
first time a multi-Para sport Games will be held in the Central Asian region,
leaving a legacy at the region and inspire the Paralympic Movement.
The last edition
of the Asian Youth Para Games was held in Manama, Bahrain in December 2021
which were participated by over 700 young athletes from 30 countries competing
in nine sports. At the end, Iran
finished on top with 144 medals including 51 golds, followed by Thailand (38
gold) and Japan (32 gold). NPC Uzbekistan was handed over the APC flag from NPC
Bahrain at the closing ceremony of the 2021 Games.
