Iran NPC, Tehran: The National Paralympic Committee’s (NPC) President Ghafoor Karegary has expressed his shock and deepest condolences at the passing of Iranian World's and Para Asian's Champion shot putter Rashid Masjedi.

“The whole Iran Paralympic Movement is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rashid Masjedi. He was an inspiration for many in our country," said the NPC  President in his message of condolence.

"The thoughts and deepest condolences of the Paralympic family are with his family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time," Dr. Karegary said.

Iranian shot putter Rashid Masjedi passed away due to tongue cancer at the age of 35 on May 9, 2024.

Masjedi had recently won a gold medal in shot put and a bronze medal at the discus throw of 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China.

The Para athlete was preparing to win a medal in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
