Iran's Zahra Nemati shortlisted for the election of the upcoming IPC Athletes' Council.

Three-time Paralympic Champion Zahra Nemati nominated for the IPC Athletes’ Council elections at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Iran's Nemati, who won her third consecutive individual gold medal in the recurve women’s event at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, is already known for her activism on the capabilities of women in sport and persons with impairment having spoken at meetings of the United Nations.

She was the first-ever woman from Iran to win a gold medal at either the Olympic or Paralympic Games at London 2012.

According to the the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), a record 26 candidates have been nominated for election during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games to fill six summer representative positions on the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletes' Council.

Elections for the IPC Athletes' Council will take place from 26 August to 5 September during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at the PLY House, near the Main Dining Hall in the Paralympic Village, and at the Athletes' Lounge in the Chateauroux Village for Paralympic Shooting athletes.

The Chairperson and First Vice-Chairperson of the IPC Athletes' Council are also ex-officio voting members of the IPC Governing Board.

The six IPC Athletes' Council members elected at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be announced at the Closing Ceremony of the Games on 8 September in Paris.
