This designation is awarded to select
facilities in Asia that meet APC’s high standards for infrastructure, training
environments, and comprehensive para-athlete support.
On 28 October, the KPC and APC
formalised this designation with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the
Icheon National Training Centre. The ceremony included KPC President Jin-owan
Jung, APC President Majid Rashed, APC CEO Tarek Souei, and over 20
representatives from both organisations.
Expressing his satisfaction, KPC President
Jin-owan Jung said, "I am extremely pleased that the Icheon National
Training Centre, which boasts world-class facilities, has been designated as an
APC Centre of Excellence. Through this MOU, we are committed to expanding
para-sports across Asia in collaboration with other Asian countries and serving
as a platform for mutual development."
APC President Majid Rashed emphasised
the value of the Icheon Centre, stating, "The Icheon National Training
Centre is not only a top facility for training but also provides excellent
opportunities for skill improvement through workshops and educational programs
for para-athletes.
"This designation will allow
even more para-athletes in Asia to train and grow together at Icheon. We are
proud of Korea’s contributions to the global Paralympic Movement and the
positive impact it brings beyond Asia."
Under this MOU, the Icheon National
Training Centre will work closely with the APC to deliver educational programs
for developing para-athletes, coaches, and referees across Asia. The centre
will also offer training at an international standard, further supporting
para-sports in the region.
