Iran NPC | Karegary: Asian Para Games in Japan to Serve as a Stepping Stone for Paralympic Glory

Dr. Karegary outlined Iran’s strategic vision and objectives for the the upcoming events during the NPC's 24th General Assembly, on Monday.

Iran NPC, Tehran:
The 24th General Assembly (GA) of Iran National Paralympic Committee, chaired by Dr. Ghafoor Karegary, convened today, January 6, 2025, at the NPC's headquarters.

In his remarks to the GA members and the press, National Paralympic Committee President highlighted Iran NPC's commitment to strategic planning, stating:
"Iran’s National Paralympic Committee has focused on pursuing both its short-term and long-term goals. Today, in addition to presenting our annual reports, we aim to update members on the upcoming events and initiatives."

Dr. Karegary emphasized the importance of preparation for the upcoming Asian Youth Para Games, explaining:
"With the event fast approaching, we have already commenced training camps for our national youth teams, well ahead of the Paris Paralympics. Our primary objective for the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games is to defend our championship title from Bahrain 2021 or, at the very least, secure second place. To achieve this, we have planned 126 training camps for young athletes in collaboration with our partner sports federations."

"We will participate in the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games with the maximum number of athletes to identify and develop new talents, strengthening the foundation of our senior national teams," he added.

"Competing in the host nation, which is also one of our strongest rivals, will be no easy task. However, our goal remains to defend our title or retain second place and solidify our standing among the top three nations in the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Additionally, this competition will serve as a critical stepping stone as we prepare for success in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics," Dr. Karegary mentioned.

Dr. Karegary outlined Iran’s broader objectives for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games:
"Our focus will be on expanding into new sports disciplines and prioritizing the pursuit of gold medals. By enhancing the quality of our athletes' performances and increasing the number of gold medals, we aim to elevate Iran’s position in the medal rankings at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics."

He concluded by reaffirming the committee’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence and building a stronger foundation for the future of Paralympic sports in Iran.
