The first term of Iran's National Paralympic Committee (NPC)
Athletes' Commission has concluded, marking four years of significant progress
and achievement.
The Commission, established to amplify the voices of
athletes and involve them in decision-making processes, has played a pivotal
role in advancing Paralympic sports in Iran.
Over the past four years, the Commission has focused on
enhancing communication between athletes and the NPC, addressing key concerns,
and advocating for athlete welfare. By fostering a collaborative environment,
it has not only improved governance but also strengthened the representation of
athletes in policy-making.
This milestone serves as a testament to the commitment of
Iran's NPC to uphold the values of inclusivity and empowerment in sports. The
progress made during the Commission's first term sets a strong foundation for
further growth and development in the Paralympic movement.
Final Meeting
During the meeting, Chair Zahra Nemati and other members
reviewed the commission’s four-year achievements and proposals for the next
term were also discussed.
Dr. Ghafoor Karegary thanked the members for their efforts and emphasized
the importance and impact of the Athletes' Commission in decision-making
related to Para athletes and enhancing services for them.
Dr. Maryam Kazemi Pour also provided suggestions for the next term of the
commission and expressed appreciation for the work of the current members.
With the first term ending, elections for the second term
will take place in February 2025.
The first Athletes'
Commission elections took place in February 2021, resulting in the selection of
Zahra Nemati (Paralympic archery champion in three games) as Chair, Javad
Hardani as Vice Chair, Sadegh Bigdeli as Secretary, and other members,
including Sadegh Kalhor, Abdolreza Jokar, Ahmadreza Shah Hosseini, Gholamreza
Rahimi, Samira Eram, and Ramazan Salehi.
