Dr. Hamid Ali Samimi has been appointed as the Secretary General of Iran National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Replacing
Dr. Kamal Javanmard in the position, for a four-year term.
Before stepping in the position of
the NPC Secretary General, Samimi has been worked as the Adviser of IRI President's Deputy at the Foundation of Martyrs and Veteran Affairs, President of the IRI Sports
Federation for the Disabled and the Head of Foundation of Martyrs and Veteran Affairs in Mazandaran Province.
Also, with over 15 years of
experience in the governing and executive boards of IRI Sports Federation
for the Disabled and National Paralympic Committee of Iran, he has a wealth of
knowledge in the position.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as the committee prepares for upcoming events, including the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games and LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
Speaking about the appointment, Dr. Ghafoor Karegary, NPC Iran’s President expressed confidence in Samimi’s ability to drive the organization forward. “Mr. Samimi’s extensive experience and dedication to Paralympic sports will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to support our athletes and elevate Paralympic sports in Iran,” the President stated.
Samimi has emphasized his commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing world-class support for Paralympic athletes. “It is an honor to serve as Secretary-General of NPC Iran. My priority is to ensure our athletes have the resources and infrastructure needed to excel on the global stage,” he said.
NPC Iran continues to play a vital role in promoting Paralympic values, advocating for equality, and nurturing talent among athletes with disabilities.
At the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games,
Iran won eight gold medals and 25 in total, finishing fourteenth on the medals
table.
