I.R. Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled (IRISFD) held a prestigious festival from 11-16th August in the holy city of Mashhad serving to the people with different abilities. The gathering marched by enjoying cooperation of some state and local entities and NGOs.
Shahid Beheshti Sport Complex host the opening ceremony as high sport officials such as Dr. Goudarzai; Minister of Sport and Youth, I.R. Iran NPC President, President of Esteghlal Football Club, Khorasan Razavi Governor glorified the ceremony.
The festival rolled as U-25 National Youth championships aimed for identifying new talents for empowering the national teams at the future. It is considered that the greatest youth sport event in the country has been happened so far.
Around 1700 participants including (Men 723 / Female 290) athletes, coaches and technical officials (386), referees, administrative personnel and volunteers (288) joined the event in Male/Female sports competitions including 7-aside Football, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, Athletics, Table Tennis, Swimming, Powerlifting (Men), Boccia and Badminton.
IDs also attended at the Athletics competitions. Archery, Bastani traditional sport, Wheelchair Tennis, Cycling, and Football Amputees have been held as demonstrative competitions to show the athletes' abilities to the attendees and try to develop their improved physical fitness.
Since almost of athletes for the first time experienced the competition, firstly, sport and medical classification rightly performed for them.
Earlier the year, the Federation classification panel attended different cities to classify almost all the athletes which resulted to put participants in their right classes.
It should be mentioned that planning for the holding festival backs to the last year as organizing staff in different time schedules met officials and investigated all the efforts and preparation have been done for the event.
Alongside the sport festival, Astan Qods coordinated some cultural programs for the participants.
It is hoped that at the future this great festival yields which causes to amplify and promote the young athletes with impairment the Islamic Republic of Iran.
