Three para swimmers represent Iran in the first day of 2023 Allianz Para Swimming World Championships.
Iran NPC, Tehran- The 11th edition of the 2023 Para Swimming Worlds is
running in Great Britain and three Iranian Para Swimmers are in action at Manchester
Aquatics Centre from Monday (31 July).
In first day of Allianz Para Swimming
World Championships Iran’s Mohammadhossein Karimi Jahan Abadi moved through to
the final in seventh with a time of 1:10.68 in the final event of men’s 100-meter
Breaststroke SB12.
Stephen Clegg from GB won the title
with 1:00:13. Azerbaijan’s Raman Salei took the silver (1:00.83) and Brazil’s
Douglas Matera picked up a bronze (1:04:60).
While two other Iranian para swimmers
Sina Zeyghaminejad and Shahin Izadyar competed in men's 50m Freestyle S10. Zeyghaminejad with a 26.03 came 10th and
Izadyar finished in 13th with 26.23.
Gold and silver medals went to
Australian para swimmers and Brazil stood the third.
Over 530 athletes from 67 countries are
competing at the Allianz Para Swimming World Championships from Monday 31 July
to Sunday 6 August at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
The 11th edition of the World
Championships marks the second time Allianz joins the event as title sponsor,
following a successful partnership at London 2019.
