At the invitation of National Paralympic Committee of South Korea, Iran NPC President Ghafoor Karegary and World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue met at the World Taekwondo headquarters in Seoul, South Korea on
Saturday today, June 15, 2024.
During the joint meeting, Dr. Karegary highlighted the significant progress made by the Iran NPC in Para-Taekwondo and underscored the outstanding performances of Iranian Para-Taekwondo athletes, such as Mehdi Pourrahnama, one of Team Iran's exceptional players.
President Karegary stated that with a remarkable track record, Pourrahnama's participation at the upcoming Paralympics will further improve Iran's Paris 2024 medal standing.
Recognizing this opportunity, he requested a universality slot (wild card) for Pourrahnama, emphasizing the potential impact of his involvement on both the athlete's career and the growth of Para-Taekwondo in the country.
President Choue praised the exceptional achievements of the Iranian athletes and also the cooperation of both National Paralympic Committee and National Federation, recognizing their extraordinary dedication and hard work in advancing Para-Taekwondo within Iran.
Concluding the meeting he expressed his hopes for Team Iran's Para Taekwondo in Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
