Iran NPC, Tehran:
Iran’s Para-Rowing Federation is gearing up for the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, with the Acting President Mohsen Shadi outlining key preparations.
In an
exclusive interview with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Shadi outlined key developments in Para-Rowing's talent identification
and upcoming training programs.
Talent Identification Program
Underway
Shadi revealed that the federation
has recently conducted specialized technical meetings with the National
Paralympic Committee to activate the para-rowing discipline. The initial step
involves a structured talent identification program to scout potential
athletes.
> "The first phase of talent
identification will be implemented in provinces where rowing committees are
already active. We are leveraging these existing structures to discover
talented para-athletes across the country," Shadi explained.
Key Provinces in Focus
Among the key regions
for scouting, West Azerbaijan stands out as a hub of rowing activity, where
promising athletes have already been identified. Several male and female athletes with disabilities have
already been identified, with medical classification set to take place soon. Similar scouting efforts are ongoing in Tehran, Gilan, Zanjan, and Tabriz,
aiming to expand the national talent pool.
> "We hope to attract more
promising athletes to build a strong foundation for our national team,"
Shadi emphasized.
National Team Training Set to Begin
With winter weather posing challenges
for outdoor training, the first national team training camp is scheduled to
begin within the next two months, once conditions improve. In the meantime,
identified athletes have already started indoor training using rowing
simulators to maintain their fitness and technique.
Eyes on the 2025 Asian Youth Para
Games
Shadi concluded by highlighting the
2025 Asian Youth Para Games as the primary international target for Iran’s
para-rowing team.
> "This will be our first
major competition, and we are determined to prepare a competitive team for this
important event," he stated.
With strategic planning, athlete
development, and dedicated training camps, Iran’s para-rowing team is set to
make waves on the international stage.
