Iran NPC, Tehran:
Three-time Paralympic Champion Sareh Javanmardi has been named as one of the newly elected members of the World Shooting Para Sport's (WSPS) athletes’ council, due to serve for four years until the next Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
Javanmardi, who won her third consecutive individual gold medal in Shooting Para Sport final of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, is already preparing herself for Paris 2024.
Sarah Javanmardi was the first-ever Iranian woman to win a gold medal at either the Olympic or Paralympic Games at Rio 2016.
She began her sport career in 2008 and made her Paralympic debut at London 2012, by winning a bronze medal in P2 - women’s 10 air pistol SH1.
In 2015, she set two world records in P2 and P4, and won two World Cups titles. Her performances placed her amongst the top three in the world rankings in 2015 in P4 and P2 heading into the Paralympic Games year in 2016.
Javanmardi completely dominated in both her events at Rio 2016, winning her first titles in P4 and P2 with two finals Paralympic records.
Winning multiple podiums in the world, she has also achieved three Asian Para Games titles.
At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games, Javanmardi celebrated her victory on the second podium of P2 event, with her son, just a few months after giving birth.
As a Paralympic legendary and a mother, now she is a key role model to young girls across the country and world.
