Iran's men defeated Germany 70-68 in a quarter-final of Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, today.
IRAN NPC, Tehran- In a repeat of the 2018 IWBF World Championships results, Iran's wheelchair basketball players secure a semi-final spot, today on 16 June, and became the first men's squad from Asia to make the top four.
The Iranian men continued their successful run at the 2023 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships with a challenging 70-68 triumph over Germany squad. In a high-intensity last-8 match, which saw leading exchanging hands several times, Iran took the upper points finally (26-17, 14-12, 17-15, 22-15).
Team Melli will face Great Britain for the second time in the tournament in the last four on Sunday (June 18th).
Iran had finished his group stage matches with two losses to world
champion Britain and Tokyo Paralympic champion the USA, and a victory over
Iraq.
The squad had also won France at the knockout stage and defeated Germany
to move for semi-final game.
The world’s wheelchair basketball elite are meeting from June 9 to 20, 2023 at the Dubai Trade Center Hall in the UAE.
