Iran Men’s Para Powerlifting Team at the 4th Asian Para Games

Team Iran at the Fourth Asian Para Games: Men's Para Powerlifting
 
Iran NPC, Tehran: A total of 10 Para Powerlifters are to represent Team Iran at the Fourth Asian Para Games, over the five days in the Xiaoshan Sports Centre Gymnasium in Hangzhou from October 23, 2023.

 The Iranian legend Siamand Rahman will be missed at Hangzhou APG and the country’s men will attempt to dominate in heavyweight categories to continue the legacy of Siamand Rahman through the presence of Aliakbar Gharibshahi (up to 107kg) and Aminzadeh Ahmad (over 107 kg).

In men’s up to 80 kg, the fight for title will be between rivals – Paralympic and World champion Rouhollah Rostami and China’s defending champion Gu Xiaofei.


The official roster for Hangzhou APG reads as follows:

 
Rouhollah Rostami, Seyed Hamed Solhipour, Nader Moradi, Mohsen Bakhtiar, Saman Razi, Seyed Yousef Yousefi, Ahmad Aminzadeh, Amir Jafari, Mahdi Sayadi, Aliakbar Gharibshahi 
 
Technical Staff

The squad will be conducted by Head Coach Hossein Tavakoli and Coach Ahmad Molla Hosseini at the event. Hossein Rezazadeh will also accompany the Para athletes and Staff as the Team Manager.


Both the men’s and women’s competitions are expected to be thrilling rounds with the presence of Paralympic and World champions in the line-up of 173 athletes from 31 nations competing for 20 gold medals at the Xiaoshan Sports Centre Gymnasium. 
Iran won four gold, four silver and two bronze medals in men’s powerlifting at the 2018 Asian Para Games.
